GLADIATORS PLAYING... CHARADES?

Gladiators are known for being truly fierce competitors. You have to be when you're fighting for your life! But what if gladiators didn't fight, but instead played... Charades? It certainly is a strange thought. An arena full of people sitting in silence, as one gladiator pretends to be a donkey and his teammate sits there stumped. "You're a horse! No, a cow! No, a table! A kangaroo?" We are not sure that this is really the most entertaining way for gladiators to spend their time in the ring, but if they played charades, no one would have to die!

They could always play other games too. Gladiators playing musical chairs? A small band sits in one corner of the ring, and they play Rome's favorite pop hits while the gladiators walk in a circle around the chairs. Then, the music stops, and the gladiators rush to the nearest chair. The fate for the loser is truly terrible, he gets booed by the whole crowd! (still a much better fate than death.) We're trying to sell these new ideas for gladiator games, but even WE are not really buying it.

FUN DETAILS

So for now, we will just have to assume gladiators fought the way we always imagined. Which makes it a good thing that this gladiator costume comes complete with a foam chest piece and shin guards, to make sure that even when you're in the ring, you're protected from any plastic swords that find their way past your shield! This costume comes complete with wristguards and a headband, both made of faux suede. And of course, you'll be sporting the knee length tunic that any self-respecting gladiator might have worn.

YOUR TURN IN THE RING

As you put on your gladiator costume, you will feel like a true warrior, ready for any games you might possibly play. Are you going bobbing for apples at a Halloween party? That's nothing for a gladiator like yourself. You'll have all the strength and bravery to conquer any obstacles that might cross your path that night. After all, you are a gladiator!

Questions & Answers

Q: How practical and comfortable is this costume for salsa dancing? Will it fall apart as you dance the night away? Thanks! (1 Answer)
Asked by Robert | 12 October 2026
Monster Responds...
The polyester interlock knit tunic is a pullover with a boat neck and cap sleeves, so it moves freely and won't restrict your arms or hips on the dance floor. The arm bands, wrist guards, shin guards, and shoulder guard all fasten with hook and loop closures, so they stay put but are easy to adjust if anything shifts during a long night of dancing. The chest piece and cape are one attached unit, which keeps things tidy, and the foam pieces are lightweight enough that you won't feel weighed down.

Q: What size should we order for 5’11” and 145lbs with a 35in chest? (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 9 October 2026
Monster Responds...
With a 35 inch chest, the Small could work well since its chest range starts at 48 inches, which is the costume measurement rather than your body measurement. Since costume chest measurements are larger than body measurements to allow room to wear the piece, the Small is likely your closest fit, but compare your chest measurement to the size chart to be sure.

Q: Do the belt/straps on the chest actually open and close? Looking to attach a belt sword holster/sheath. (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 3 October 2026
Monster Responds...
The belts on the chest piece are attached and decorative, so they don't open or close on their own. Since they're fixed to the front of the body armor, you'd likely need to run your sword holster or sheath through or around them rather than clipping directly to a working buckle.

Q: Hi!
The sizes for this dont seem right, according to the size chart the small is 50inches at the chest?
Please can you advise on the sizing

Thank you (1 Answer)
Asked by Chelsey | 27 September 2026
Monster Responds...
Those measurements are for the costume itself, not your body. The Small tunic measures 48 to 50 inches around the chest, which means it's designed to fit over your body with room to spare. To find your best size, compare your actual chest measurement to our chart and choose the size where your number falls comfortably within the range.

Q: Can you tell me why the XL fits a larger chest than the plus size? Is the XL chest 54” true to size? (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 25 June 2026
Monster Responds...
Totally fair question. The XL chest range is 54" to 58", so it's sized for a larger frame than the standard Large, which runs 51" to 55". If the plus size you're comparing has a chest range that starts lower than 54", that overlap or difference is just how those two cuts are proportioned. For the best fit, compare your actual chest measurement to the ranges in our size chart, since costume sizing doesn't always follow clothing sizes.

Q: In the inclusions, does the "medallion" mean the shield with the sword? Please advise. Thank you (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 19 April 2026
Monster Responds...
The medallion is a separate decorative piece, not a shield or sword. It's a molded plastic medallion that fastens to the costume with a safety pin. No shield or sword is included with this costume.

Q: I'm 6'3" with a 44" chest. Looks the the small size would fit but the length is pretty short. Is that the best option or just go for the large and safety pin the extra fabric on the back 🧷 What feed back have you've received? (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 9 October 2025
Monster Responds...
With a 44" chest, the Small's chest range of 48" to 50" does give you room, but the Large is the stronger choice for you. The Large covers a 51" to 55" chest and has a shirt length of 39" and tunic length of 37", which will sit more comfortably on a 6'3" frame than the Small's 38" shirt length and 34" tunic length. Comparing your measurements against our full size chart is the surest way to land on the right fit.

Q: Im 6'2" tall with a chest size 44" and waist 34"
What size would you recommend as the sizing seems really big.
Thanks! (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 9 August 2025
Monster Responds...
With a 44" chest, the Small fits chests up to 50" and would give you the closest fit, though it will still have some room. At 6'2" the shirt length of 38" should work well for your height. These costume measurements are intentionally generous, so the Small is your best starting point here. Comparing your measurements against our full size chart before ordering is always the surest way to confirm the right fit.

Q: The chest size on the small is showing as 48-50 inches. Is this correct? The plus size is barely bigger than this. (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 29 July 2025
Monster Responds...
Those measurements are correct. The Small chest is 48 to 50 inches, which is the measurement of the costume itself rather than your body measurement. Because the tunic is a pullover with a relaxed fit, the garment is cut generously so it drapes well, which is why even the Small runs large. To find your best fit, compare your actual chest measurement to our size chart, and if you fall between sizes, sizing down is worth considering here since the costume has extra room built in.

Q: Does the chest plate have a shoulder guard on both shoulders, or just the shoulder that is not covered by the cape? (1 Answer)
Asked by Bradley | 24 August 2022
Monster Responds...
Hello! There is only one shoulder guard that is used to attach the cape.
