These shoes come in whole sizes only, so there's no 8.5 available. If your foot measures between a 9.5" and 9.75" footbed length, a Size 8 has a 9.5" footbed and a Size 9 has a 9.75" footbed, and sizing up to the 9 is usually the more comfortable choice when you're between sizes.(AI Generated Answer)

These are unisex shoes, so you're good to go! The important thing to know is that they're sized in women's standard sizing, so as a guy you'll want to size down about 1.5 to 2 sizes from your usual men's size.
