Jimmy Dugan was an amazing Club slugger. At one time. A long time ago. We can neither confirm or deny any of his baseball skills currently, as it's a bit hard to tell with him sleeping in the dugout all the time. What we do know is that he was paid to manage the women's baseball team, the Peaches, during World War II, and that his team went to the World Series.
If you can relate to Coach Jimmy, then you should probably show up to practice in the right uniform for the job. This A League of Their Own Coach Jimmy Costume, which is officially licensed from the iconic movie, ought to cover it just fine. It has a button-up shirt with patches on the front and sleeve. The pants come with elastic waist and cuffs to provide a comfortable fit. The faux leather belt, knee-high socks, and baseball cap all help to bring the whole look together. You'll look like the classic player in no-time! Just be sure to remember: Deep breaths and minimal yelling.
We gotcha, coach!
Of course, good ol' Jimmy's coaching ordeal was a bit rocky to begin with. What with him thinking the baseball league was a joke, showing up to the first game a little less than sober, and practically sleeping through the first few games. Don't worry. It got better from there (thankfully). He eventually stepped up to the plate, so to speak, and started coaching. He had to learn a couple of things about how coaching women was a bit different though, such as how to approach some of his female players (hint, screaming at them that there's no crying in baseball doesn't usually help), but once he figured that out, he really started to shine as the coach for the Rockford Peaches.
