White Baymax Inflatable Adult Costume
Who’s everyone’s favorite Disney-owned medical robot? No, not medical droid 2-1B, although he did do a bang-up job patching up Luke after that wampa attack. No, not those floating droids on Polis Massa that said Padmé had “lost her will to live” either. (Doesn’t really seem like something a robot would say, does it?) No, it’s Baymax from Big Hero 6 of course! The medical droids of Star Wars are cool and all, but can they carry their own movie? And would you really want to be cared for by a cold piece of metal with exposed machine parts you could hurt yourself on? We sure wouldn’t! We took a poll around the office, and if we’re going to have to turn our heads and cough for our new robot overlords, we would prefer their appendages be soft and warm at room temperature.
This costume is unusually realistic, in that Baymax is an inflatable robot, and this is an inflatable costume. It’s kept blown-up by a battery-operated fan at the back of the left hip. That said, if someone suffers an accident or emergency and a call goes out for a doctor in the house at your costume party, don’t get carried away––Baymax may be a personal healthcare robot ready to revolutionize human wellbeing, but you’re just a guy or gal in a polyester suit. And, unfortunately, we weren’t able to incorporate any Baymax 2.0 technology into this inflatable costume either––person jet thrusters and rocket-fists are sadly still a few years off in our mundane corner of the multiverse. Okay, okay, it also won’t make you sound as charming or hilarious as the talented Scott Adsit, but maybe it’ll give your the confidence to work on your own improv chops.
